here's the rundown...

who remembered to wish me a happy birthday?

jon at waldens, i kind of let it slip, so he doesn't win any honors.
jack, my longest known friend in the world gets top honors. he called me before 8 am.
don't worry, i am always up before then ;)
then late in the evening simms IM'd me a birthday greeting. that made me happy :)
then i went to get dinner and take it to mel, saw her at 6:30 and at 7pm, she finally remembered what day it was. that's always good. your girlfriend takes 19 hours of your birthday to remember. great.
got home, and checked email, and technically, kent beat mel to the birthday punch. his note was time stamped 5:59pm.

my parents and sister, and nieces were on it, they are family, they don't have to be placed in ranking. they always win.

I know you think it really sucks that i do this, but you don't know my life. every once in awhile, i have to just shut up and make sure i don't mention anything about my birthday.

it's kind of an evaluation tool. who cares enough to remember. do i really want to bother with some people next year.
Now, certain people are off the hook. i absolutely don't expect them to write it down or remember. I know they don't remember this type of thing. I simply don't expect them to remember. But for some, i have to wonder what role i actually play in their life, and am i being used. probably being used a bit, i am too nice.
